Trip

Hi everybody!

While Daddy is writing this Mommy and I are headed down to Grandpa John's farm. We are going to go on a road trip with him to visit family in North Carolina and Atlanta. I sure will miss Daddy, but we will have lots of fun and I am really excited.

There were a couple of things Daddy thought about writing after he finished the last post yesterday. First, I turned seven months old on Monday! I am getting to be such a big girl. I have two teeth on the bottom of my mouth, and Mommy and Daddy think I am starting to cut my top teeth also (but you can't see them yet). Daddy measured me today at just over 27" long and around 19 pounds.

I am not crawling yet, but I can sure get around. I will raise up on my hands and knees and then fall forward, or I will use my legs and feet to push off the ground and kick to where I want to go.

There are lots of new pictures in the photo albums, and Daddy is going to work on uploading the Dedication video to youtube. Mommy is going to try to keep the blog updated on the trip using her phone, and I am sure there will be a ton of new pictures when she gets back.

Talk to you soon. Bye everybody!

Dedication

Hi everybody!

I have had a great couple of weeks. Gigi came to visit last Wednesday after her vacation. We had fun together while Mommy and Daddy were out having fun. Then on Friday, Grammie, Grandpa Brad, and Grandpa John came to visit also. There were lots of people here and I was showered with love. It was pretty amazing.

The reason all of these people came to visit was for my Dedication last Saturday. A Dedication is a church ceremony where Mommy and Daddy dedicate themselves to raising me by biblical principles and instruction from the Lord. It is very important to Mommy and Daddy that I learn about Jesus and how he died to save everyone in the world from punishment for their sins. Their dedication is very important because I will learn a lot of my beliefs from the way they raise me and teach me. Mommy and Daddy hope that they, along with everyone that attended the Dedication and everyone else who loves and cares for me, will do their best to teach me about Jesus so that, when I am old enough to understand, I will choose to accept Him as my Lord and Savior.

Mommy and Daddy gave away cards at the Dedication that contained the following prayer based on the letters in my name. They believe that one of the most loving and influential things that you can do for me is to pray this prayer when you are talking to God about me.

Heavenly Father, thank you for blessing our lives with Alexis. We are honored to have her as part of our family. Specifically, we pray for her:
Attitude - That she would live with a positive outlook on life no matter what situations arise and that others are able to see Christ's likeness through her attitude.
Love - That first and foremost she would love You, Lord. Also, that she would grow into a person with the capacity for enormous amounts of unconditional love for all people.
Eternity - That You will protect her here on earth and that the Holy Spirit will guide her and prepare her for an eternity in heaven.
eXample - That the example she sets with how she lives her life will be a shining light that reflects on You and Your goodness. And through that she will be a positive influence on this world and everyone she encounters.
Integrity - That she lives her life with integrity, always choosing the right thing to do, especially when it is not the easy thing to do.
Salvation - That, when she is old enough, she will choose of her own free will to accept Christ as the leader of her life and forgiver of her sins.
Lord, we humbly ask for your wisdom as we raise her according to Your teachings and guidelines.
Amen

Just an update

Hi everybody.

It has been a couple of weeks so I wanted to say a quick hi to everyone. Daddy has been really busy at work and hasn't had time for my blog lately. But he has managed to upload a whole bunch of new pictures to my photo album, so make sure to go check those out.

The past couple weeks have been filled with fun. Daddy, Mommy and I met a couple of friends at Arlington to watch Poppa Cooper's horse run.
Daddy didn't win any money, but we had a lot of fun on a beautiful day.

Last weekend I got to meet Aunt Helen and Uncle Tom. We went to their house for lunch. It was so much fun. Uncle Tom played with me and made funny faces to make me laugh. Aunt Helen made a great lunch. I only got to try the mashed potatoes, but the fried chicken looked really good and I can't wait until I am old enough to try it. Candace was at their house too, and it was cool meeting her as well.

Last week Grammie came for a visit. We had a lot of fun while Mommy and Daddy went on a date. Then the next night Mommy, Grammie and I hung out while Daddy had to work late.

The other night I got the dirtiest I have ever been. Daddy and Mommy had barbeque pork chops and baked beans for dinner. When Daddy was done, he put his empty, saucy, messy plate on my high chair tray. Well, of course, I had no choice but to play in the sauce and get it pretty much everywhere that my little hands could reach. It was actually pretty fun and made my teething biscuit taste very good. Needless to say it was straight from the table to the tub.

As far as development goes, I am rolling around like a mad woman. I can get around quick by rolling and scooting, but I haven't started crawling yet. I am scaring Mommy and Daddy enough for them to go by safety gates and to start keeping an extra close watch on me. So far I've gotten under their bed, the futon, and too close to the ironing board. And that is just in the last week. Its fun making them jump and I'm just going to get better at it.

I do not have any teeth coming through yet. I have not said any words, but I babble constantly and most of the time Mommy and Daddy know what I'm talking about. I can sit up pretty good by myself, especially if there is something in front of me to concentrate on and play with.

What I do the most of is smile and laugh. I am a happy happy girl.

Well that is about it for now. It will be bath time soon. I still LOVE the tub and I am getting really good at splashing Daddy. He is going to get it good tonight.

Talk to you again soon.

Bye everybody.
